About Perth.

STOP 6

This is our closest stop to the Perth City Shopping Malls as well as the Perth underground Railway station and Wellington Street Bus Station. The bus stop is outside the entrance to the The Moon and Sixpence pub, which  is a very traditional British Pub set in the heart of Perth complete with cozy snugs and beer garden.

The City of Perth has over 900 specialty shops, with plenty to tempt the adventurous shopper.

Perth’s city centre is a shopping hub and a dependable retail therapy hotspot that can be enjoyed seven days a week. From unique designer goods to major department stores the city’s rich mix of retail outlets encompasses the latest in fashion, style and technology.

The two main precincts are joined by covered overpasses and colourful arcades. Originally created to help pedestrians traverse the wide city blocks, arcades including Carillon City, Piccadilly, Plaza and Trinity Arcade have each developed their own distinctive character.

London Court, with its Tudor façade and ornate clockfaces, continues to be a popular drawcard for visitors and locals alike. While recently opened arcades such as enex100 and Wesley Quarter are providing new reasons for people to visit the city.

The Murray and Hay Street Malls are lined with jewellery, fashion and souvenir shops, while the ultra chic King Street is the centre of Perth's sophisticated West End and is home to designer styles and exclusive boutiques.

The Botanic Garden is unique from those around the world by maintaining its focus on local flora many found nowhere else on earth. About 2,000 of Western Australia's 12,000 species of plants are displayed. The magnificent landscaped gardens and parkland lawns are a favourite for weddings, quiet picnics, resting in the sun, or attending outdoor music and drama events in summer. Sit and relax by the Womans memorial fountains.

No visit to Perth is complete without a visit to Kings Park. It is the pride of Perth with breathtaking views of Perth City skyline and the Swan River. Kings Park and Botanic Garden is visited by over six million people each year. With its remarkable expanses of unique bushland, tranquil parkland , botanic garden, State memorial and honour Avenues, the park is the most popular visitor destination in Western Australia.

Remember a tour around this fabulous park is included in your ticket!

The total area of the park is 400.6 hectares and is located adjacent to the Swan River, approximately 1.5 km from the Central Business District of Perth.

Kings Park and Botanic Garden overlooks the Swan River and Darling Range and showcases an outstanding collection of Western Australia flora. It is a popular place for picnics, pleasant walks, cultural and ceremonial events.

Nearly two thirds of the Park is natural bush land containing 319 species of native plants and around 80 bird species. The balance of the Park is made up of superbly cultivated gardens and open recreational areas.

For Western Australians and for the many interstate and international visitors, Kings Park and Botanic Garden is a place of inspiration, relaxation, recreation and wonder.

On the 1 October 1872 an area of 432 acres (175 ha) on Mount Eliza was gazetted as a public park - Perth Park - by the Commissioner for Lands, Sir Malcolm Fraser, who had submitted this proposal to the Governor, Sir Frederick Weld, more than a year previously. The area was renamed Kings Park in 1901 in honour of King Edward VII of England after a visit to Perth by his son, the Duke of York (later King George V).

The State War Memorial was erected in 1929. The Honour Avenues and special memorials throughout the Park are dedicated to those who died during service to Australia.
